Are you a High School student and want to learn the ins and outs of the New York City music and arts scene?

Apply today for the Young Leaders Arts and Immersion Project!  

We are looking for 25 NYC high-school and pre-college students to participate in a summer Arts Immersion Project. This experience will include masterclasses, listening sessions, a deep dive into Black music, behind the scene tours of NYC arts institutions, and meetings with NYC cultural leaders.

Sessions will take place at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem (58 West 129th Street and Malcolm X) and at other New York City cultural institutions.  

There is no pre-requisite for participation, but strong candidates should have an interest in the arts or should be pursuing music, visual art, theater, audio production, writing, or other arts related activities in school or out of school. This interdisciplinary arts immersion experiences will emphasize music and culture, the evolution of Black dance and its impact on American culture, visual art, film, and musical theater. 

The experience will conclude with student-led projects that reflect their learning. These projects could be virtual exhibits, live shows, art exhibitions, audio productions, or other ideas generated by participants. 

Students will receive a $250 stipend for their participation.
