Visitor Guidelines

We look forward to welcoming you to the National Jazz Museum in Harlem (NJMH). Your health and safety are our top priorities. NJMH is following guidelines for increased health and safety procedures issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New York State and New York City.

The Museum requires all visitors 12 years of age and older to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Masks are required for all visitors. Proof of vaccination may include CDC Vaccination Card (or photo), NYC COVID Safe app, New York State Excelsior Pass, NYC Vaccination Record or an official immunization record from outside NYC or the U.S. Read more details at NYC.gov.

Review our visitor guidelines and regulations below to help orient you before you arrive and to ensure you get the most out of your NJMH experience.

Doing our part to keep you safe

The health and safety of all is our priority. NJMH is working to reduce risk by requiring everyone in the Museum to wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing. We have also implemented staff health checks; established a regular cleaning schedule; incorporated enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces throughout the day; and installed hand-sanitizer stations in the Museum. NJMH will continue to monitor and abide by Federal, State and City guidelines to inform our operations.

We require all visitors to follow the safety guidelines outlined below. NJMH reserves the right to deny entry to anyone who refuses to adhere to these guidelines, and to ask visitors who do not follow these guidelines to leave the Museum’s premises.

Make sure to plan for your visit.

To ensure we provide a safe environment for all, the Museum has the following additional protocols in place:

Important Safety Guidelines

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present. The National Jazz Museum in Harlem cannot guarantee you will not be exposed to COVID-19 during your visit to the Museum. Those visiting the Museum do so at their own risk of such exposure.

To request an accommodation based on a medical condition or disability, email info@jmih.org prior to your visit.

Those unable to visit in person may visit the Museum’s website for updates to guidelines and information regarding virtual programming. See https://jmih.org/event/

We encourage our Members to reserve visits to the Museum in advance. Museum staff will do our best to accommodate walk-in entry for Members who visit without a reservation. However, regulations and guidelines will remain priorities and walk-in Members will be accommodated only if the Museum has the available capacity.
