Move & Groove: Live Jazz & Yoga

move and groove yoga™ – a wellness initiative that seeks to build community through events focusing on music, movement and mindfulness practices.

The National Jazz Museum in Harlem invites you to Move and Groove. We invite you to join us for a 60-minute vinyasa flow yoga set to live jazz.  We are excited to bring back this signature experience to you.

This carefully curated sequence seamlessly unites mind and body with skillful postures and mindful breathing that flow towards deep relaxation.

Join us on Saturday, October 29th at 10am will feature certified Yoga Instructor Ron Davis and live music accompaniment by pianist Mathis Picard.

Instructor for October 29th:

Ron was first exposed to yoga 13 years ago when he wandered into a community yoga class by fate and has been studying and practicing the science of yoga ever since.  He teaches a foundational vinyasa practice which focuses on alignment, strength, and the breath.

Currently Ron teaches a community yoga class and a boxercise class for the Stanley Issacs Beacon Program.  His study of yoga and meditation continues with his teacher Chia-Ti Chui of One Love Wellness.

Ron is a native New Yorker, born and raised in the village of Harlem, a graduate of the City College of New York and Sonic Yoga Studio’s teacher training program.   He believes strongly in the transformative power of yoga, “it’s not about where we want to be or where we were, it’s about where we are here and now.”

move and groove yoga™ is a wellness initiative that seeks to build community through events focusing on music, movement and mindfulness practices. The goal of the initiative is to help urban residents create spaces where they can expand their minds while appreciating and honoring their environments.  Partnering with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem since 2016, move and groove yoga’s open-level class pairs Vinyasa Flow yoga with live accompaniment by a rotation of live musicians.  Additional programming have included HARLEM RESET, Sound and Self Care speaker series, and GOOD VIBRATIONS a sound bath experience-15 minutes of sound bowl offering on IG LIVE.
