Live from Harlem – JFA Presents: Gene Bertoncini and Friends

Gene Bertoncini and Roni Ben-Hur are two legendary guitarists from different generations who have collaborated for over two decades. Of their 2008 CD Smile on Motema Records, J Hunter wrote in All About Jazz, “the tunes themselves become secondary to experiencing the entrancing sound that comes from the multi-layered dialogue between Ben-Hur’s hollow-body electric and Bertoncini‘s nylon-string acoustic. 5 stars!” For this special concert, they will be joined by bassist Josh Marcum and vocalist Melissa Stylianou, in celebration of Bertoncini’s remarkable 7-decade career.

This event is free and open to the public!

This event will also stream on the Jazz Foundation and Jazz Museum Facebook pages and the Museum YouTube Channel.

This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and by the Howard Gilman Foundation.
