  • Celebrate the NYC Citywide Dance Party with Jaambo on the stoop of the National Arts Club!

August 11th, 6Pm – Live from the State Office Building: Funky Dawgs and Uptown Royalty

  • Join us for a night of upbeat dance music with two of the most exciting bands in the area, the brass band Funky Dawgs, and the Afro-Latin Jazz ensemble Uptown Royalty NYC.

August 25, 2PM – Afro-Latin Roots Concert: Martin Vejarano Colombian Porro Brass Band

  • Join us for an afternoon concert of Colombian pro music lead by Martin Vejarano.

August 25, 7PM – Afro-Latin Roots Concert: Ahmed Alom – Ragtime to Danzon

  • Join us for an evening concert of solo piano that will explore the connections between early African-American ragtime to Cuban danzon and a whole bunch in between.

August 30, 2PM – Rachel Therrien Latin Jazz Group

August 30, 7PM – Afro-Latin Roots Talk: Examining the Afro-Latin Music Continuum

  • This panel discussion led by Zack O’Farrill will feature young musicians that are on the front edge of the Afro-Latin musical evolution. They will discuss how they draw upon the tradition in the creation of their own vision of contemporary improvised music.
