Pianist/composer/bandleader Valerie Capers first emerged in the 1960’s shortly after graduating from The Juilliard School. Her first album, Portrait in Soul, was released in 1966. For Ms. Capers, education has always been a priority, and she played a large role at series of schools, including the Bronx Neighborhood Music School, the Brooklyn School of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music; she ultimately was named the Chair of Bronx Community College’s Music Department.
Please join us for an evening in conversation with Ms. Capers, as well as a performance by her Quartet.
This series is made possible, in part, with funding from the Louis Armstrong Education Foundation.
