A native New Yorker raised in Houston, TX, guitarist / arranger Andrei Carrieré studied with Lightnin’ Hopkins, David T. Walker and Clarence Holliman while also playing as a teen in the legendary Kashmere Stage Band, a student group helmed by Conrad Johnson that is well known to record collectors. He graduated with honors from Berklee in 1977, with a degree in arranging and composition, staying in Boston for a prolific stint with disco producer Arthur Baker. He made numerous (often uncredited) appearances as the guitarist on recordings for the Salsoul and Casablanca labels. Moving to NYC in 1981, Carrieré became a house arranger for Warner Bros Music Publications, and for the hit TV Series “A Man Called Hawk”. He served as guitarist and/or musical director for The Temptations, The Four Tops, Michael McDonald, Freda Payne, Gary U.S. Bonds, Esther Phillips, David “Fathead” Newman, Aretha Franklin, Sam Moore, Joe Bataan, and many others, while also teaching voice and acting at the Manna House Workshops. He added lead vocalist to his list of talents when developing his group East Side Blue, which became well known in Harlem and across NYC. This concert features that group, as well as his vocal ensemble the Tri-Tones.
