Music on the Brain: The Dance before the Embrace

Join us for Music on the Brain: The Dance Before the Embrace, an evening of live jazz and neuroscience exploring aggression, attraction, and the signals we use to negotiate conflict and connection. Neuroscientist Zach Mayer and saxophonist Patience Higgins reveal surprising parallels between courtship rituals, emotional cues, and jazz improvisation—hosted by Harlem jazz tour guide Amanda Humes.

Music on the Brain is a collaboration between the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute.
