Move and Groove: Live Jazz and Yoga

The National Jazz Museum in Harlem invites you to Move and Groove. We invite you to join us for a 60-minute vinyasa flow yoga set to live jazz. We are excited to bring back this signature experience to you.

This carefully curated sequence seamlessly unites mind and body with skillful postures and mindful breathing that flow towards deep relaxation.

Join us on Saturday, January 14th at 10am will feature certified Yoga Instructor Courtney Liddell and live music accompaniment.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Courtney Liddell is a 200 hour certified yoga teacher and a sound healer. She began teaching in 2014, with a mission to share the benefits of yoga with a more diverse population. Her goal is to help people develop a yoga practice regardless of age, income, ethnicity, or body type.Her teaching experience includes the Harlem YMCA, Asali Yoga, Bronx Settlement Community Center, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem and GrassROOTS Community Foundation. 

move and groove yoga™ is a wellness initiative that seeks to build community through events focusing on music, movement and mindfulness practices. The goal of the initiative is to help urban residents create spaces where they can expand their minds while appreciating and honoring their environments. Partnering with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem since 2016, move and groove yoga’s open-level class pairs Vinyasa Flow yoga with live accompaniment by a rotation of live musicians. Additional programming have included HARLEM RESET, Sound and Self Care speaker series, and GOOD VIBRATIONS a sound bath experience-15 minutes of sound bowl offering on IG LIVE.

FAQs

How much does class cost?

The class is FREE, but you must have a reservation.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. In order to participate in class you must be 18 or older. If you are under 18, a legal guardian must sign a liability release form before class begins.

What do I need to bring?

Yoga mats are not provided. Please bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water.

Tell me about the facilities.

There is one large ground floor with two bathrooms. While the National Jazz Museum in Harlem has coat hooks and space to leave shoes, we are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.

What time does class start?

Doors open at 10:00am. Class will promptly begin 10:30am. Our policy is first come, first practice. We ask that you please give yourself enough time to sign a liability release form, change, set up your mat, stretch, and settle in.
