Live in Harlem: Ayanna The Singer

Ayanna Williams is a singer-songwriter born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Her love of music and performing came at the early age of 11 when she started writing and performing her own songs. Ayanna cultivated her performing talent in The City College of New York while also working with vocal coach, Joleen Wilkinson on developing her style. If diversity is what is needed, Ayanna is the synonym of versatile. Ayanna has  collaborated with multiple hip hop artists, and has sung lead for cover bands. She has also performed as a Featured Artist for the critically acclaimed Inspired Word NYC at Parkside Lounge. On August 20th, 2019 she headlined her first concert for Co-op City Presents: Tune Tuesdays.

Fans describe her voice as “A voice with a gritty sound reminiscent of a Gladys Knight and  Ella Fitzgerald”. Ayanna is totally devoted to building her music and establishing herself in the music world. She hopes to inspire people the way her music favorites inspired her, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige and Luther Vandross.

Ayanna currently has two EPs on all music platforms, Delicate and Love Box. She has had the honor of performing in venues including Shrine, Sugar Bar, The Delancey and Silvanas. She has also collaborated with Bronx creatives including Bronx Native, Empanology, Bronx Brand and most recently Boogie Down Grind Cafe.

In addition to being a Singer-Songwriter, Ayanna is the Event Producer/Creator of Uptown Melody, a performance series highlighting Bronx Artists and Entrepreneurs through live music events.

Determined, poised and genuine are the three words that come to mind when Ayanna describes herself. These are the qualities that she intends to bring to her music.

This show is curated by iamchelseaiam and made possible by the West Harlem Development Corporation and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
