Live from Harlem – JFA Presents: Santi Debriano Arkestra Bembe Sextet

Santi Debriano has been composing music on his acoustic bass since 1982. His abilities as an improviser, arranger and composer have made him a favorite of such greats as Archie Shepp, Sam Rivers, Pharaoh Sanders, Oliver Lake, Freddie Hubbard, Danilo Perez and others. He has over 100 recordings as sideman to his credit, and 10 recordings as a leader. His latest, Ashanti, features his extraordinary Arkestra Bembe group, which will appear in a slightly pared down version for this special concert. This event will stream on the Jazz Foundation and Jazz Museum Facebook pages and the Museum YouTube Channel.

This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and by the Howard Gilman Foundation.
