Originally from Chicago, the music of renowned trombonist Ray Anderson bears the influence of a range of styles, from Dixieland to the avant-garde. Having worked with George Russell, Sam Rivers, David Murray, Dr. John, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, Barry Altschul, and a long run with Anthony Braxton’s quartet, he has also been a prolific leader, with group sizes ranging from the Pocket Brass Band to a full-on big band. This concert features solo trombone.
