Armando Vergara – Echoes of Our Roots

This show is part of our month-long Celebrating the Afro-Latin Roots of Jazz series.  The 2023 series is curated by trumpeter and bandleader, Kali Rodriguez-Pena.

This concert will delve into the profound journey of Afro-Latino heritage reclamation. Through melodies, rhythms, and personal reflections that are unique yet familiar, this performance will uncover the complexities of navigating identity and authenticity. A product of diverse manifestations of the diaspora as they intertwine, portraying the rich tapestry of African, European, and indigenous culture.
