Live from Harlem – JFA Presents: Joe Hertenstein FUTURE DRONE feat. Jon Irabagon and Anthony Coleman

Thursday, September 24 @ 2:00 pm
National Jazz Museum in Harlem

The prolific German, Berlin- and NYC-based drummer, composer, producer Joe Hertenstein presents his eights album as a leader. Hertenstein is realizing a cutting edge, contemporary, fun-pushing organ trio with groovy compositions and twisted melodies, which allow ample spaces for all three to stretch the music in any way imaginable. The toe tappin’, head boppin’, brow raisin’, all riskin’ happy accidents of FUTURE DRONE’s music might surprise the listeners and musicians alike. Chicago’s celebrated saxophonist and 2026 Guggenheim fellow Jon Irabagon, and the living legend of NYC’s downtown music scene, Anthony Coleman on organ, will put up ramps and traps to keep the drummer and composer on his feet. Joe Hertenstein’s drum work will aim at running circles around his band mates while keeping the audience at the edge of its seats. Check out the album!
