Chuck Perkins and Friends
Chuck Perkins is an author and poet. Inspired by musical legends like Gil Scott Heron and Lauryn Hill, Perkins infuses his poetry with the musical sounds of New Orleans, conjuring a vibe that is vibrant, thought provoking, and uncompromising. In 2012, he released “A Love Song for Nola” on Trikont, Germany’s oldest independent record label. In February of 2020, Perkins had the honor of performing at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Nicolas Payton, Pedro Martinez, and Joe Dyson. In 2025, he performed at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem with Delfeayo Marsalis in conjunction with J Renee’s art exhibit. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has just released his first book of poetry and essays called “Beautiful and Ugly Too.” For this concert he will be in collaboration with Anthony Wonsey on piano, Barry Stephenson on bass, Donald Edwards on drums and Antoine Drye on trumpet.
