Live from Harlem – JFA Presents: Valery Ponomarev “We Have a Message” Quintet

Trumpeter Valery Ponomarev was born in Russia and came to the U.S. in 1973. Well-known for his four years with Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, with whom he performed at major concert halls, clubs, and festivals all over the world and recorded 11 albums, he has also worked with Benny Golson, Max Roach, Joe Henderson, Jimmy Cobb, Don Braden, Curtis Fuller, Charles McPherson, Arturo O’Farrill, the Duke Ellington Orchestra under Mercer and Paul Ellington, and many others. He has released eight solo albums, and two books, including On the Flip Side of Sound.

This event will stream on the Jazz Foundation and Jazz Museum Facebook pages and the Museum YouTube Channel.
