The National Jazz Museum in Harlem & iamchelseaiam present a FREE tribute to Hip Hops 50th anniversary. Hip Hop has long been a close cousin to jazz, demonstrating similarities in improvisational skills and Hip Hop’s continual embrace of jazz through sampling. Examples of this include “Doo-Bop”, Miles Davis last album, with the trumpeters collaboration with producer Easy Mo Bee (Notorious B.I.G., Big Daddy Kane).
To pay homage to this beautiful relationship of genres we present to you the collaboration of 3 artists, FKAjazz, BD3 and JSWISS. FKAjazz is a Grammy nominated/Billboard charting artist who is a saxophonist, producer and DJ exploring multiple genres such as jazz, hiphop, house and electronic. Harlem’s own, JSWISS has enjoyed a career recording and collaborating with Elvis Costello and Nicholas Payton, gracing the stages of The Apollo Theater and Blue Note Jazz Club. BD3, is a Brooklyn born MC who exudes a range and lyrical ability that spans lofi jazz and funk, landing him on Spotify’s Top Funk tracks of the year in 2022. The trio are frequent collaborators of this live performance project, with residencies at SoHo House and midtown venue, Somewhere Nowhere
